Dear Sir or Madam:
I went to Reliance Jio’s Dahisar (East) store on 10-Dec-16 at the following address: Digital Xpress mini, Shop No. 2, Ruby Complex, Near Madhuram Hall, Hari Shankar Joshi Marg, Dahisar East, Mumbai 400068, to get a new SIM for my new 4G enabled handset. I carried along with me 2PP size photographs, multiple copies of different ID proofs and address proofs. At the counter I spoke to Mr. Manish and made it clear to him that I do not have Aadhaar Card, as I have never applied for the same. He sent me back telling that Aadhar Card is compulsory, without which I shall not get the SIM, even if I were to produce other proofs of ID and Address.
Hence, I decided to take the SIM in my mother’s name and generated the bar code in her name. On finding that Aadhar is not compulsory, I went to the store a second time, and produced the ID proof and Address of my mother. This time I interacted with Mr. Govind and Mr. Atul Pandey, who were reluctant to accept my application. However, since I persisted, they suggested that instead of getting the SIM in my mother’s name, I get it in my own name. Hence, I gave them a photocopy of my passport and PP size photograph on the same day i.e., evening of 10-Dec-16.
It was Mr. Atul Pandey who assisted (or pretended to assist) me with the application. However, while giving me the acknowledgement slip, he filled in the POS agent name as “MANISH”, and refused to stamp it. When I pressed them to stamp the acknowledgement slip and write the correct name on the slip, both Mr. Govind and Mr. Pandey informed me that from the customer’s point of view, it did not make any difference, whether the slip was stamped or not and whether the agent name was Manish or Atul Pandey. When asked about the mobile number, again both of them informed me that prepaid no. is not readily available and will be generated only when the SIM is activated. Attached to this mail is the scanned copy of acknowledgement slip of my application form bearing CAF no. MUP00O5IFY, and the SIM package given to me on 10-Dec-16.
Thereafter, I had been following up with Mr. Govind over the phone (No : 022 28283804) almost every day regarding the activation of my SIM, who evey time informed me that it will another further 48 hours for my SIM to get activated.
Yesterday i.e., on 14-Dec-16, my mother went to the Dahisar (East) store on my behalf to inquire about the status of my application. She was informed by Mr. Govind that my application form had already dispatched to the back office.
This afternoon i.e., on 15-Dec-16, I myself went to Dahisar (East) Jio store and spoke to Mr. Manish and Mr. Pandey, who informed me that my application form was at their store, and it was still to be actioned. I admit that there is little crowd at the Jio store in the evening, but in the afternoon from 1:00 pm till almost 6:00 pm, there are hardly any customers at the store. You can also check the CCTV footage of the store to confirm this.
From the above, it is evident that I am being needlessly harassed and discriminated against only because I do not have Aadhaar Card, otherwise, even after complying with all the requirements, why even after 5 days my no. has not been activated?
In light of the above, request you to instruct the appropriate staff to activate my SIM at the earliest, and also take punitive action against Mr. Govind, Mr. Atul Pandey, and Mr. Manish, and oblige.
Thanks,
Mandar Pathare
