Damage and Loss of Goods – unreasonable delay

Dear Sir,

I am working as Assistant Professor of Law in Calcutta. Till recently I was working in Delhi and residing at Flat No. 253, DDA SFS, Pocket 2, Sector 19, Dwarka, New Delhi – 110075 (Own house).

I am registering this compliant with reference to my furniture and household items which have been entrusted to M/s Hindustan Cargo Packers and Movers, C-1/E, Opp. Utsav Garden, Sanjay Gram, C-Block, Mata Road, Gurgaon – 122001 (His office could also be in Rajiv Nagar, 7 Number Gali, 31 Office, Near Shiv Chok). I had entrusted the shifting of my household items from Delhi (Dwarka) to Calcutta on 22 July 2009 to Mr. Pradeep Kumar (Proprietor) (Mobile no. 9999066617) of the Hindustan Cargo. After considerable delay, the consignment was delivered on 6 August 2009.

It has been found that many items have been damaged and some items are missing. I feel that the Proprietor has misappropriated some items and caused serious damage to some other items. The cost of the damaged and missing item is more than Rs. 25 thousand. While I have taken Insurance with the M/s Hindustan Cargo, the Proprietor is neither giving me the Insurance documents nor indemnifying the loss that I suffered. He is now taking advantage as I am out of station and not responding to my calls.

I request you to kindly register a complaint for causing serious damage, gross negligence and misappropriation of goods and take appropriate action against the concerned people.
