On 3rd November, I had gone to the Lounge newly opened by Yatra.com in Kolkata at 10 a.m. I was shown a number of options for travel from Kolkata to the USA, and booked a route at a displayed fare of Rs. 64,740. They told me it was all finalised, and that they could not print the booking due to their printer not functioning at that moment. They asked me to be understanding, saying that their Lounge is new. They said they would keep the printout ready, and I should come back in the evening.
At 3.10 p.m. that same day, I received a call from the Yatra Lounge saying that I would have to pay Rs. 81,550 instead of the Rs. 64,740. They said this was due to a ” technical glitch ” in their system.
I was shocked and outraged, and e-mailed the co-founder of the company, Mr. Dhruv Shringi, mentioning the matter, and also called their National Head, Retail, Mr. Love Misra.
Mr. Misra, National Head, Retail, Yatra.com, initially attempted to dodge responsibility by the company, and sent mails saying they would quote current prices, but later admitted the commitment made by the Kolkata team in a subsequent e-mail. He promised to honour that commitment at the agreed price.
Later in the evening, however, he stopped answering calls and responding to e-mails.
It is obvious that the company is mis- selling, by entrapping customers by initially promising them one fare, but later revising the fare upwards.
I would like the company to give me the ticket as committed by them, and at the fare committed by them.
