India Posts – Theft of Electronic Goods worth $400 in transit – Tracking No: EV130422155SG

I had ordered electronic goods online (A mobile Phone from Google Inc.) worth USD 400 from USA. This was shipped from USA to India by Singapore Post – VPost service. Singapore Post’s VPost service is a package forwarding service for forwarding goods and parcels from USA to India. The parcel was shipped from USA to Singapore and then from Singapore to India. While being shipped to India from Singapore by India Post and bearing tracking numbers EV130422155SG it was lost in Transit and I received empty package at the post office. The receipt of an empty package with no content has been officially acknowledged by the post office. I have written documents that acknowledge the loss. I filed a complaint regarding this incident with Chief Post Master General, Jaipur Rajasthan and Additional Director General (IM) for International Mail, Dak Bhawan Delhi in response of which I received an letter from Head Postmaster Udaipur saying that the incident is under inquiry and as per findings till date it has been observed that the parcel was not insured by the sender from Singapore and that you could not claim damages. I have few points to make here 1.I had paid upfront all amounts for the goods(mobile) to Google Inc and for postal services to Singapore Post. In a sense I was using the services of India Posts though employed through Singapore Post. 2. I am the one who lost the money on account of in transit theft of goods. 3. The parcel was accepted by India Post at their Singapore Center wherein the invoice clearly mentioned the products and the value which means that the authorities were aware of the liability associated in transit. They should not have accepted the parcel without proper insurance packaging etc. for delivery. There acceptance for delivery assumes their responsibility for value of goods and its just technicality that it needs to be insured. Even getting parcels insured in such multi country transit is beyond my control of the end recipient and it is the responsibility of parties in postal service to ensure proper transit guidelines and insurance requirements once they have accepted the goods for delivery. 4.After reaching India the parcel moves through the chain of cities before being delivered to the recipient. How could a empty parcel be forwarded all through from one point to other in the chain such that empty parcel reaches the recipient. This brings to light the negligence in the system that has no proper checking mechanism in place so that incident is caught just in between points in which the incident of theft occurs occurs and not in the end Thanks and regards Abhishek Bhansali 83-Mahaveer Colony Bedala Road Udaipur Rajasthan 313011 (M) 9460375730 All supporting documents and invoices etc are readily available

India Posts(Department of Posts, Govt of India) is escaping its responsibility and negligence in service citing one or the other technical reasons. I want my complete amount of loss $400 to be paid along with harassment charges of rupees ten thousand.
