My complaint is against Indian Railways for not providing enough security to passengers of Swaraj Express on 16th and 17th December 2013 while our belongings were stolen in a running train and expect Indian Railways to compensate for our loss. Details of the complaint are as follows: I was travelling from Bandra Terminus Mumbai to Jammu Tawi in Swaraj Express number 12471 berth no. B1-63 on 16th and 17th December 2013. Our train had reached the New Delhi Station at around 6:50 a.m. on 17th December 2013 and while I was asleep some goons stole my brand new mobile phone handset type LG Google Nexus 5 and a Micromax charger along with my co-passenger friends Samsung CDMA phone and charger while the train had haulted at the station. Our phone was attached to charger on the switch provided in the railway compartment. We immediately informed the a/c coach attendant who advised us to inform the TT on duty Mr. Khan. we asked for the complaint book from the TT who refused to give us the same and said will handover a “Theft of Passenger Luggage” form after some time. While the train had reached Panipat another railway coach attendant Mr. Tandon informed us that he had caught hold of a thief and has recovered 5-6 mobile chargers from him and that I should check if ours is one of them. We found both our chargers in his bag, later at Ambala station constable of Punjab police got on the train and we handed over the thief to the police Mr. Jaspal Singh. While it has to be noted that there was no police guard on duty in the train in between Hazrat Nizamuddin station and Ambala station. We registered our complaint in the police complaint book and the theft form which was provided by the TT Mr. Khan. Mr. Khan had advised us to submit the form at GRP at Jammu Railway station who refused to accept it and asked us to lodge a fresh complaint.

A financail compensation of Rs.40,000 which includes my cell phone cost, travelling cost for registering a complaint and getting a new sim card.
