Indigo Airlines – Airline Ticket Cancellation – Review

On 13th June, 2014, we had booked Indigo airline tickets for our group of 35 persons travelling on your Indigo flight 6E 161 to Goa from Ahmedabad. On one such ticket where the booking reference was Y1H7WB, which was booked on March 12th, 2014, the passenger name was typed to Sona Patel instead of Shobhana Patel,Sona is a very standard and accepted abbreviation of Sobhana just as Manu Is for Mansukh or Ramu is for Ramesh. Or in English people Bill is for William or Liz for Elizabeth. However, due to security reasons she was denied entry and henceforth we requested your staff (Mr. Sangram Pradhan the person in charge) to help us edit the name correctly as the person travelling was the same for which the booking was intended to. Your ground staff informed that they do NOT hold such power or authorization to do the same and demanded re-booking for ticket (Reference- FDHPFE) at the current rate and that too for both ways i.e on going and return (return ticket? which was strange as for the return ticket under same reference Y1H7WB they should have changed the name as the return date was on 16th June) ? We had booked the ticket -Y1H7WB on low fare basis while the on the spot ticket was nearly 3 x times costlier than the March 12th ticket? We were going for an auspicious occasion of my sister’s wedding and did not wish any unhappiness around hence complied. We neither received any refund for the ticket Y1H7WB nor any concession on ticket FDHPFE? We personally feel that this is an unfair practice on part of your esteemed and reputed airline company Indigo and you should co-operate and refund our entire amount of the ticket FDHPFE, as editing name change is a common practice. We are ready to submit all authorized document stating that there was no bad intention or malpractice while booking the ticket and that the person travelling was the same person for which the ticket was originally booked. Kindly review this matter and settle our refund for us as a goodwill gesture and an example for your airline Industry so that we promote and continue travelling by Indigo (remember we had booked nearly 35 tickets for one family on the same date) and we wish to continue doing the same in future.

We want our refund of Rs. 16,000 from airline.
