COMPLAINT I booked my travel from Chandigarh (IXC) to Bangalore (BLR) by Flt No S2-4235 of Jet Airways scheduled to depart Chandigarh Airport at 17.25 Hrs on 4 May 14.PNR-VEKXOM refers. On 4 May 14 while I was on my way from Jalandhar to Chandigarh by taxi, through tele- check in at 11.30 Hrs, I was shocked to learn that my Flt was cancelled and combined with Flt No S2-4237 which had already departed at 08.15 Hrs on 4 May14. I was not informed about this change. I had no arrangements to stay at Chandigarh so had to return back to Jalandhar in the same taxi by paying additional taxi fare. On 18 Apr 14, I travelled from Bangalore to Chandigarh by Jet Airways Flt No S2-4238 with family, wife and two children aged 8+ and 5+ PNR-VEKXOM and QEKYBZ REFERS. From Chandigarh we were to travel by a taxi to Jalandhar. The Flt reached Delhi on time. Hoping to reach Chandigarh on time (16.55 Hrs), I confirmed my taxi to reach Chandigarh Airport for our onward travel to Jalandhar. The flight from Delhi to Chandigarh was delayed by 1.5 hours. The staff on board informed that the delay was to accommodate a VIP who was delayed. This resulted in long wait for my taxi at Chandigarh Airport. Our onward travel to Jalandhar by taxi was spilled over to past mid night resulting in extra waiting charges of taxi at Airport and overnight night charges due to late travel from Chandigarh to Jalandhar. Jet Airways accepted their deficiency in service on both occasions and have apologized. They have offered me a one way gratis ticket in Economy class on any direct (non-stop) Flt on domestic sector as compensation for my financial loss due to the deficiency in service by Jet Airways. One ticket as compensation is far below the actual financial loss suffered by me. Reply from Jet Airways is attached. My request to re-consider the compensation has been turned down. My request and their reply are attached.
RELIEF I am serving as Manager with Juniper Networks at Bangalore with an annual base salary of Rs 34 Lakhs. The loss of one day leave has costed me Rs 9444/= of base salary. I had no arrangements to stay at Chandigarh. Jet Airways also made no offer of arrangements to stay at Chandigarh. I was forced to return to Jalandhar by the same taxi. The extra taxi fare from Jalandhar to Chandigarh has costed me Rs 3500/= The waiting period of 1.5 hours by taxi at Chandigarh Airport on 18 Apr 14 and its night travel from Chandigarh to Jalandhar spilling over to past midnight due to late arrival of Flt from Delhi to Chandigarh has costed me Rs 1500/= extra over and above the taxi fare. I have been offered a one way gratis ticket in Economy class on any direct (non- stop) Flt on domestic sector by Jet Airways. This falls much short of the actual financial loss incurred by me. The fear of the incident affecting my career would always be haunting me. I seek the relief amounting to Rs 20,000/= as under:- (a) Loss of one day base salary Rs 9444/= (b) Extra taxi fare from Jalandhar to ChandigarhRs 3500/= (c) Taxi waiting charges and extra charges for night travel from Chandigarh to Jalandhar paid over and above the taxi fare–Rs 1500/= (d) Mental and physical discomfort to self and family. My absence from a very important meeting in office On 5 May 14 and the fear of its effect on my career Would always haunt me–Rs 5556/= (e) Total of relief sought-Rs 20,000/= Regards, Avneet Bhatia.
