Lenovo Brand Mobile – within two months dead

1 That on 2nd April, 2013. The complainant purchased one Lenovo Brand Mobile ohone IMEI No 862741014633404 manufactured by M/s Lenovo (India ) Private Ltd through online shopping vide receipt No.38 2 That the mobile phone screen started functioning erratically to becoming blurred to finally becoming dead within two months and well within the warranty period of 1 year. The matter was immediately reported to M/s Lenovo (India ) Private Ltd and as per his advice the defective mobile phone was handed over to their authorised Service Centre, on 26 June 2013. 3: Even after repeated enquiry the mobile phone was not repaired for THREE months. They only gave excuses when complainant manage to contact them.(which is very rare even after long hold and there customer care line cost Rs 2 per min) . They were also not providing any time frame for return of the handset. Neither they are updating about the status nor even responding to mails. Even mails written to MD were not replied. It was only after when I wrote to some TV shows and consumer helplines that they responded through a courtesy mail nearly one month and twenty days after my last mail and repaired the defect after THREE months.

(a) Refund the cost of the mobile phone Rs 9675 along with 18 % interest; (b) Pay a sum of Rs. 200,000/- (Rupees Two Lakh) towards the physical strain and mental agony suffered, difficulties faced and time that had to be invested by the complainant (c) Another Rs 200000(Two lakh) for their brazen, bold, utter shameful arrogance and contempt (- The feeling that a person or a thing is beneath consideration, worthless, or deserving attention.) towards customer by not updating the customer on status , not even responding to the mails ,not giving any timeframe for return of the mobile and keeping mobile indefinitely, all this after selling substandard product and making him spend nearly Rs 10000(Ten Thousand) of his hard earned money ,causing agony, tension and harassment of the customer. Attempting to frustrate the customer to the point that he give up claim and issue of defective handset and forget the handset. Mails written even to MD were not even responded, a satisfactory reply is a distant thought It was only after when I wrote to some TV shows and consumer helplines that they responded through a courtesy mail nearly one month and twenty days after my last mail to them still not giving any time frame for return of the handset d: Further the M/s Lenovo IPL should be asked to deposit Rs 1500000(Rupees Fifteen Lakh ) towards Prime Ministers Relief fund as compensation for selling sub standard goods and thereafter tormenting and causing agony and loss to customers believing that hardly anyone would go to consumer courts for compensation and even if one in a thousand go to consumer court than also their strategy of selling substandard goods can be termed as success. Also their customer care line for mobiles cost Rs 2 per min(for other products it is toll free) something that has never been seen till date which shows that they are knowingly selling sub standard mobile and does not want to encourage customers to approach them with complaints. The total conduct of M/s s Lenovo IPL amount to duping ,fooling, cheating and looting customer and thereafter tormenting him. Their arrogance and silence is shameful and a well thought strategy to traumatized and frustrate the customer to the point that he give up claim and issue of defective handset and forget the handset altogether. This business strategy and practices of M/s s Lenovo IPL are completely unethical.
