On 09 July 2013, I visited Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital at Yelahanka Branch in Bangalore for medical consultancy of my eye. After checkup at the hospital, Dr. Anjali Kiran advised me to use a contact glass for correction of refraction error in my eyes. I was advised to take the contact glass from their hospital only. But since the price was very high, I decided to not to purchase from the hospital and instead would buy at any other suitable place. Thereafter, I asked them to issue me the case sheet of my medical tests. They refused to give my case sheet despite my repeated requests and said it is not their policy to give case sheet to patient. But as per logic and Code of Ethics Regulations, 2002 of Medical Council of India, If any request is made for medical records either by the patients / authorised attendant or legal authorities involved, the same may be duly acknowledged and documents shall be issued within the period of 72 hours.
It is requested that suitable instruction may be passed to the Hospital authorities to issue me the case sheet and action may be taken against the Hospital and the Dr. Anjali Kiran for degrading the dignity and honour of her profession and promoting financial goals of the hospital and lens company which is against the prime object of the medical profession which is to render service to humanity.
