Hi, I rode Ola cabs today and want to lodge a formal protest as calling your call centre didn’t help – the lady on the phone was either unable or unwilling to address the issue.I have paid around Rs 180-200 in excess under protest and if you continue to be inflexible about this and do not issue me a credit note for the excess amount paid, I will be compelled to : 1. Never again ride an Ola cab 2. Never promote an Ola cab to anyone else in my personal and professional circle 3. Lodge a protest with the consumer court (perhaps not as 1&2 alone should do enough damage given my vast personal and professional circle) Now here’s what happened this morning – I booked for the first time using your smart phone App at around 7:05 am wanting a cab at pick up time 820 am from my residence on the outskirts of Bangalore (8th Mile Tumkur Road). I expected the cab to take 45-50 minutes to reach me for the pick up (a lead time we all expect when booking cabs). However it would appear the nearest cab was around 2 KM from my residence and reached at around 720-25. I called the driver at 7:10ish as soon as I got the drive details over SMS, and told him clearly that I need the cab at 820am (and not a minute earlier than that). The driver said he is nearby and that it is OK – he will be ready for 820 but did not utter a word about any waiting charge to be applied. The driver further told me I will be charged Rs 100 for first 6 Kms and Rs 10 per Km after 6Kms – which would have meant the bill amounting to around Rs 220. (Destination was Trinity Circle, M G Road, 18Kms from my house, so this would have meant 100 + 12*10 = Rs 220 ). The Driver was mum all through the Journey and suddenly woke up on reaching the destination asking for Rs 408, saying a waiting time of about 79 odd minutes has been applied and the bill amounts to Rs 408 all added. This is nothing but CHEATING the unsuspecting customer. On protesting theses charges, he started misbehaving and created a ruckus outside my office gate, refusing to move the car unless paid and creating a traffic snarl behind. This is about when I was calling the helpline to protest these charges. This experience has been one of my worst with any service provider and exposes the trickery a customer is subject to at the hands Ola and its Drivers. For me and perhaps many others who book cabs, an additional Rs 200 paid in excess pales in comparison to the feeling of being duped early morning and is the worst possible start one could make to the day. Ola cabs should realise that it is not in the Indian Psyche to expect a cab to come to you in 15 minutes. if that were true, no one would book at 7am for an 820 am pick up and then be asked to pay 1 hour of waiting time ! Here are a few things your process should involve to help the customer : 1. Right at the time of booking, your smart phone app should throw up a prompt clearly confirming the pick up time registered in system and that you will be charge
Refund of excess amount of Rs 200.
