On 8th June 2013, we had hired the services of Rang Movers and Packers to pack, ship and deliver our household items from our residence in Khar, Mumbai to Rohini, Delhi. The same was to be delivered to us on 13th June 2013. The total value of our goods was approximately Rs. 50,000. The total cost of services charged by them for the same was Rs. 8427. (Rs. 7500 plus 12.36% service tax). The payment of Rs. 4200 was made in the form of cash and the remaining amount, Rs. 4,227 was paid via a post dated cheque ( Chq # 647041, dated 15th June 2013, favouring Dilip Jain) which was also encashed by them. Armaan Malik had personally collected the items from our residence and packed the same. The content of our consignment was 1 LCD TV ( Brand : Philips , Model No :32PFL5609/98), 1 TV Stand and 3 boxes of clothes and other household items. He had packed the LCD television in a cardboard box and assured us that the same will be bubble wrapped as well as put in a crate inorder to ensure safe delivery of the same. We told him that we were worried about the safety of the television and had hired his professional service only for the sake of transporting the television. He told us that we had nothing to worry about as the consignment was insured and the minimum amount due to us incase of any damage to the television was Rs. 25,000. He also told us that he would reach his office and send us back the insurance details of the consignment being shipped to Delhi. He misled us by falsely promising to insure our goods and charged us for the same, however the same was NOT done as we did not receive any insurance details from him or the company. Even if the items were insured, the delivery receipt from their courier partner, GATI states the value of the consignment was Rs. 5000, which is grossly incorrect and much lower than the actual value. Also, the consignment was NOT delivered on 13th June 2013. We called Arman Malik and he assured us that he would call us back in 15 min. to confirm why the delivery had not happened. When we did not receive his call, we tried reaching him again. But he refused to answer our calls.
After calling him numerous number of times and after several concerned messages were sent to Armaan, we finally received the consignment on 17th June 2013. We were surprised to find out that our package was handed over to GATI ( another Courier company) without notifying us or seeking our consent. The value of our consignment was also misrepresented as Rs. 5,000 instead of Rs. 50,000. Upon opening the package, we found out that the LCD television, worth Rs 35,000 was broken. We called Arman but he did not answer. When we informed Arman Malik about the same on 18th June 2013, he told us that he will get back to us within 30 min to confirm how the claim can be made. That was the last time we spoke with him or anyone from the company
