Brief Consolidated Summary of Complaint: I hold accounts with State Bank of India since 7th February 2010. The accounts were originally opened with the Malad branch at Mumbai, Maharashtra. Since September 2013 due to personal reasons I relocated to Kolkata. In order to streamline matters relating to my Banking transactions (with SBI) I approached the local branch close to my residence (Kasba) for basic hygiene requirements as mentioned in subclause (3-a) and (3-b). I requested the Branch Manager, Mr Shakti Ranhan to kindly co ordinate these requirments with the Mumbai branch (Branch to Branch) on the following reasonable grounds: a) That since my relocation to Kolkata was temporary and not yet final b) That since I was mostly travelling and only occasionaly available at my place of residence c) That since my place of residence mostly vacant which may inconvenience me and lead to returns of delivery etc. For this on a number of occassions I met Kasba branch manager (refer Clause 4a-4e). Initially he agreed to help me as per the banking guidelines. I put in my first request (3-a) on 30-8-2013. Till today there has been no reply from the Bank regarding the correction. Nor has there been any commmunication thereof. Then I put in my second request in writing at the Kasba branch (3-b) on 7-9-2013. For Request (3b) SBI took more than 19 days and that too harassed me with a provisional cheque book (3-a). They were of partial use to me. Then they took another week to rectify this deficiency in service (3-a). I demanded to know the reason for delay. No one reverted. Meanwhile I underwent a lot of mental agony running between my place of residence and the Kasba branch. For the deficiency related to subclause (3-a) the bank still holds back information relating to the service failure. And as already mentioned for deficiency (3-b) the bank is yet to perform its service and/ or explain such deficiency in writing. On two occassions I was also mistreated by the Branch Manager (Kasba) in front of third parties (customers, staff etc.) irrelevant to the dispute. This has led to a loss of my reputation which I also informed the Branch Manager in writing. Meanwhile under such circumstances I not only suffered a tremendous level of stress and anxiety (aggravated by my move to a new city) but also lost financial and investment opportunities during the disputed period due to the loss of time and resources. Given I was also setting up a distribution business here in Kolkata this led to certain unnecessary delays due to the mess created by State Bank of India. This continued harassment by the Bank also brought about family disputes and destroyed my peace of mind. This became intolerable for which I was forced to bring the issue to the notice of the forum. Particulars relating to services complained of: (a) Inordinate delay in issuance of Normal printed (CTS enabled) Cheque books for accounts numbered 1) 31049774648 and 2) 31578016241 (b) I
Justification with reasons the extent of compensation claimed for the losses as mentioned: Loss of productive time (and hence capital) – Rs 75,000/- Cost of Stationeries used for pursuing the resolution to the dispute – Rs 1,500/- Cost of carriage for pursuing the resolution of the dispute – Rs 10,000/- Cost of dis-reputation and mental agony – Rs 100,000/-
