Purchased an Allen Solly trouser at Shoppers Stop which had a MRP tag of Rs.1,899 inclusive of all taxes at a discount of 50% under their cash memo no 4879 dated 04.08.13 for product id 8903951429888. The bill prepared showed the original value of Rs.1,899, Discounted rate of Rs.949.50 and then charged VAT of Rs.47.48 making the total bill value of Rs.996.98. When the MRP is inclusive of all taxes then why will the seller again charge VAT on the discounted items? This is being done by all branded retailers on their discount sales fleecing the consumer? The shop Manager explained that they had to pay VAT on the original MRP and as they are selling at a discount they are recovering part of the extra VAT paid.
Refund of the VAT charged by the seller and all sellers directed not to charge such VAT from the consumers where the MRP is inclusive of all taxes.
