Sir, with great displeasure and resentment I wish to bring before you this incident that has happened with my younger sister at IGI Delhi airport. I had booked a ticket to Bagdogra from New Delhi, flight no. (5767) at 12 noon. PNR no- EQ73HX. This ticket was booked via Goibibo. On the time of booking I had booked an extra baggage of 20kgs. This was mentioned in my ticket as well.
However on arrival at the counter MR. Raman Parashar who happened to be the executive at that time, refused my sister’s extra baggage claiming that its total 20kgs checkin baggage and not extra 20kgs as clearly mentioned in the ticket. On showing him the ticket to prove that its extra 20kgs he said and I quote “ye to cut copy paste wala kaam lag rha hai”. Now I am unsure if this reflects on the professionalism and mentality of Mr. Raman Parashar or of Airasia in entirety. However, it was a young lady standing in front of him for whom he used this language and she was stunned at that remark made to her in front of so many passengers.
My sister literally begged Mr. Parashar to verify for himself if he was in any doubt about the authenticity of the ticket but the response came with another threat and I quote again “madam mai verify nhi karunga and goibibo walo se baat karlo, humara unke saath koi tie up nhi hai and wo unhone kya offer dia usey wo log jaane aur late karogi to apki flight miss ho jayegi”. It was at this moment when my sister decided to just pay and move on as she didn’t want to miss her flight. And that’s not even the end of her torment, after forcing her to pay by insults and threats she paid and left for her gate and came Mr.Parashar once again and said you have to pay more as your baggage is still more than we charged and by that time my sister was flushed from any more humiliation and just paid whatever he claimed and took a receipt for the same.
Now my question is if there is no tie up between Goibibo and Airasia, how come customers are able to book their tickets through them? And when it’s clearly mentioned in the ticket who is Airasia to deny my rights? And if the Airasia executive was unclear about anything why didn’t he verify for himself?
Concluding this I wish to convey this message to you and to all the to-be victims of Airasia that stop running these scams and train your staff if you people want to exist in the market in the long run. These petty scams will come back to you people with a much bigger karma in the future. I hope I don’t have to travel by your airlines ever in my life
Your regretful customer,
Saurabh Kumar
