I have a VIP mobile number. I’ve been receiving too many calls from people asking for Salman Khan. It’s been more than four years that I’ve been dealing with this harassment. I had subscribed for a call filter service to block such unwanted calls but now these callers keep calling from thousands of different numbers from different states of India and some even from abroad. Some of them even use ‘spoofing’ applications on smartphones to display wrong caller ID numbers. I receive calls at random odd hours at night as well. I have also seen that the same callers call up other people who have VIP mobile numbers, I have witnessed this with two of my own friends who have VIP mobile numbers. I myself have another VIP mobile number from a different service provider and these callers also end up calling on that number immediately after calling on my first number. Sometimes they call up and ask ‘who is speaking’ and when I ask them who are they looking for they reply by asking for Salman Khan. I suspect that these people are a group of mobile number dealers who harass people like me with VIP mobile numbers so that I give up using this number and they get to sell it to a new prospective buyer. They are using actor Salman Khan’s popularity and circulating VIP numbers in his name so that his fans can also keep calling me. I also receive calls from people saying that they are big fans of Salman Khan and want to become friendly with me. I have had times when I have received non stop calls from fans to the tune of 200 calls within a span of 45 minutes. Please help me with this issue, please trace down this group of people who are harassing people with VIP mobile numbers. I’m pretty convinced that they are the same group of people because by now I recognise them by their voices even if they call me from different numbers.
