Following is the copy of the complaint email which was made to yamaha on 20-09-2013. “Hello Sir / Madam, I had purchased YAMAHA SZ-R bike from “Ganesh Motors” in Udupi, Karnataka, on 09th October 2011. Chassis No: ME154B037B2038528, Engine No: 54B3038622. But, within two weeks after purchase, I noticed there is a defect in the engine; the engine goes off while riding and sometimes a loud metal crashing sound comes from the engine before it goes off. This happens very often but randomly only while riding. One cannot expect to get that sound whenever needed as I told it happens very randomly. Four months after I purchased, I had parked my bike at a friend’s place and the bike didn’t start when I wanted to return home due to some urgency. This has happened to me even recently and happens frequently. The bike has NO KICK-START. Yamaha had installed a low quality Battery in a bike which has NO KICK-START. Later, I had to call the Local Yamaha service guy “Benaka Motors” to get my bike started. I raised the complaint to the Yamaha service station about the loud metal crashing sound that comes from the engine. But they refused to accept that there is such problem with the vehicle. When complained to Yamaha India repeatedly, Yamaha India directed me to take the vehicle to a newly opened Service Centre” RIDERZ Yamaha” in Udupi as the old service/dealer “Ganesh Motors” had wound up. Yamaha service guy at “RIDERZ Yamaha” tested and tried to get that metal crashing sound, but he couldn’t as that happens very randomly. So he assumed that there could be a problem with the Battery and replaced it just to gain a satisfaction letter from me. Repeatedly I have raised the same Issue with Yamaha and Yamaha has directed me to take the bike to another service Station in Shimoga, Karnataka. There was no change in the nature of complaint even after I left my vehicle there for 5 days. Gradually I realised there are multiple defects with the vehicle. 1) Problem with Ignition still persists. 2) Pathetically low Mileage 25-30KMPL irrespective of company’s promise of 60KMPL. 3) NO KICK-START. 4) Uneven throttle of the engine when held at constant acceleration. 5) Engine goes off while taking normally slow sharp turns and while riding at normal pace which has caused hazardous fatal situation. I was barely lucky to have survived without a crash or injuries in such circumstances. 6) Poor road Grip 7) Never easily crosses 100kmph unlike other 150cc segment bikes. 8) Unreliable Fuel indicator The company has identified the problem with Ignition and rectified by introducing KICK-START. When I asked for a free Upgrade because of the defect, they refused to upgrade it for free and told me to pay Rs.3500 Extra to put KICK-Start. I am immensely dissatisfied with the bike as it is causing me mental agony and loss of money because of the poor mileage & service costs. I am not interested to continue keeping such defective bike and burden myself with more trouble
Why should a customer suffer because of a faulty engineering of the bike? Let them take the bike back and I seek a complete refund of my money.
