I bought a New ‘Godrej Edge Pro’ 240 Liter Single door refrigerator on June 5TH 2014. I bought this new refrigerator from SARGAM Electronics, Adarsh Nagar, Delhi vide cash memo no.: 3203. This New Refrigerator of Godrej was working fine but for its Freezer Door which was having some unusual play. On Sept.13th, 2014, when Refrigerator’s door was opened its Freezer door came out and fell on the ground thereby breaking from the corner. I lodged a complaint to Godrej on 1800 209 5511 at 3:26 p.m. regarding this broken freezer door. I was given Call No.: D 1409325489 and it was attended by Sh. Manish Chauhan on Sept.15th 2014. Sh. Chauhan on inspecting told that there is no warranty for plastic parts but he will try to get it repaired free of cost if Godrej agrees to otherwise we’ll have to pay for the cost of part. I protested that it is neither my fault nor mishandling so why should I pay for manufacturing defect. On Sept.19TH, 2014 Sh. Manish game me a call and told that I will have to pay, Rs. 250/-, for the Part and there will be no service charges. On my protesting he suggested to talk to the dealer from whom I purchased the product. I called Sargam Electronics and lodged my protest that why I am being asked to pay for a manufacturing defect of M/s Godrej but dealer did not budge and kept insisting there is no warranty for plastic parts. Now my points are: 1. I’m not a mishandle of the refrigerator otherwise how could M/s Godrej’s earlier fridge could serve me for last 30 years without any trouble. 2. If on opening the front door of refrigerator Freezer door comes out and fell down, breaking it, how can a consumer prevent it. 3. How can a consumer break the freezer door the way it broke in my new refrigerator. I have no complaints from Sh. Manish Chauhan as he said he has done whatever best he could but it is the policy of M/s Godrej. I would request M/s Godrej to revert me the charges, Rs. 250/-, levied for replacement of Freezer door of my refrigerator at the earliest. Or else I will have no option left but to write to Consumer court claiming Rs. 250/- for cost of Freezer door recovered from me plus cost of litigation plus damages for mental harassment from M/s Godrej. Rs. 250/- charged from me should be given back to me along with suitable compensation for mental agony I ‘ve faced dealing with all this plus cost of litigation so that it act as a deterrent for the companies.
