Name of School : KidsV’lle AcademySchool Address : No. 527, 24th Main, HSR Layout,2nd Sector,Bangalore 560102 School Type: Playgroup, Nursery, Special Education & Early Intervention Website: http://www.kidsvilleacademy.in Our Child’s Name: Shriya Agarwal – special needs child (suffering from microcephaly, growth and mental retardation) Program enrolled: Nursery (Special Education & Early Intervention) Date of Admission: June 2014 Efforts taken to Redress: Multiple e-mail & verbal discussions and requests to resolve the matter amicably by arranging a special education demo Summary of Complaint 1) Lack of quality and experienced special education staff. The school promised several things at the time of admission however after admission we found the school lacking in terms of quality & qualified staff (specifically special education), planning (timetable, education plan), communication (about activities, goals, plan, etc.), transparency (not letting us meet the teachers), etc.2) Not being able to define clear goals and comprehensive plan for our child as promised and advertised 3) Unfair, changing and self- centered policies with no process for redressal of issues. 4) Not taking our concerns in the right spirit while leaving them unresolved and pointing out problems with our child instead. 5) Expulsion of our child by KidsVlle Academy from their school (on Nov 6, 2014), without any formal & prior notice, as a result of us demanding resolution to the issues, special education demo and withholding further advance fee payment due to lack of proper resolution, education quality and related issues. We told them that we will pay late fee as per their policy if issues are resolved.6) School not refunding the advance fee charged. We paid the school almost 70% of the annual fee at the time of admission (we have paid a total amount of INR 1,65,630)and the school is not willing refund the money for the time our child didn’t get schooling & other related services from KidsVille.
Our daughter has missed schooling and has lost valuable time that she should have spent is special education or therapy. This is very important for her since it’s a critical year for her progress We have to admit our daughter to another school after abrupt expulsion for which we need to again visit multiple schools and explore options which is costing us in terms of money and time while causing great mental stress for us. We will also have to pay the admission fee, school and other related fee again since there has not been any refund from the school.
