www.readersdigest.co.in – Deficiency in service

I made an online purchase on the website http://www.readersdigest.co.in/ on June 14th 2013. However due to some error on the website, the order could not be confirmed but my credit card was debited for the amount i.e, Rs 1099. Despite repeated complaints and providing all the necessary information I have not received my refund yet. Whenever I call they give some or the other excuse but never processed my refund. After persistent complaining, they said my cheque was despatched and I’d receive it in 2 weeks but after one month when I called them back I was told that the cheque was never dispatched. I was assured to receive it after another month. But so far neither have I received my cheque nor any communication whatsoever from the company. My complaint against them is: 1. When they could accept payment via credit card, the mode of refund should be the same. Why should the refund be posted to the consumer via cheque leading to inordinate delay of over 4 months. 2. Due negligence and dereliction of duty towards consumer causing mental agony, waste of valuable time and money in persistently following up on the status. 3. Providing false information and cheating the consumer that action has been taken and issue resolved while the reality is to the contrary.

My original refund : Rs. 1099 Compensation for opportunity cost over Rs. 2198(1099 parked with the organization and 1099 paid towards credit card bill): Rs 200 Compensation for communication charges(telephone and internet): Rs 200 Compensation for mental stress and agony: Rs 100 Total: Rs. 1599 Apart from the monetary compensation, I’d like the company to be issued orders to change it’s refund process. It should process the refund in through the same medium through which the payment was made.
