Exide – worst experience of Poor Quality product

Dear, We would like to share one of the worst experience of Poor Quality product of Exide. This is for the general public also to understand the terminology for Guarantee and special word – PRO – RATA WARRANTY as general public tends to misunderstood the same with warranty only. But today we came to know the meaning of PRO – RATA WARRANTY and would like to share for the education and awareness of the general public as this words are not explained or described at the time of purchases and only at the time of problem, we come to know about the meaning and feel being cheated by the terminology and the company. We purchased above battery bearing bill no. 1889 dt. 02/02/2011 for our Maruti Suzuki – SX4 – from your Surat based dealer – Shah Battery. The battery was having 18 months guarantee and and 18 months PRO-RATA WARRANTY. Within 15 months of usage, battery discharged and we have to visit the Shah Battery, at that point of time,battery was charged and fitted once again. At that point of time, no diagnoses were made or color of waters being checked to know the reason for discharge of battery. Once again, in the month of August’2013, we visited at one of the service camp organised by dealer at L.P. savani School road,Adajan,Surat and some green color materials were removed on the top of batteries. But no postmortem or diagnosis was done for the occurrence of the problem. Today, i.e. 31/12/2013, Our car did not start and we called up the Exide Bat Mobile Service, at that point of time, we came to know about the discharge of the battery. Mobile van charged the battery and we visited Shah Battery, Surat. We came to know that one of the battery cell is having black color water and this is the indication that the battery could not be charged and hence needs to be replaced. We asked about the warranty, at that point of time, we came to know that we will get only discount of 15 % on prevailing Maximum Retail price of the new battery. and it differs form standard terms of “WARRANTY”. We argued that it is a replacement discount (predetermind price based on usage) and is different from warranty. The company is using this term “warranty” as gimmicks to cheat the general public. The meaning of the phrase warranty is a. An assurance by the seller of property that the goods or property are as represented or will be as promised. b. A guarantee given to the purchaser by a company stating that a product is reliable and free from known defects and that the seller will, without charge, repair or replace defective parts within a given time limit and under certain conditions. So, this is completely cheating with the general public and the words warranty needs to be replaced with discount. We also argued that since guarantee and warranty are being offered by the company based on quality test done by the company and that will deviate only in exceptional situations. In our case, there was no existence of exceptional situation, the product itself was damaged one
