Dear Sir/Ma’am, I had purchased a bed from House Full International Ltd. (a division of Tata Retail) on 22nd September 2013. By June 2014, one of the planks of the bed started developing a dent which later transformed to a bend. The bed has a one year warranty against manufacturing defects. On 13th July 2014, I went to the store in Bangalore from where I purchased it and raised a complaint. The store manager Mr. Satyajit said that he will raise a complaint with his head office and assured that the plank will be replaced. On 15th July 2014, I got a call from their central customer care division that I need to pay Rs. 1000 and the bed will be repaired. I replied that I will not pay any amount as the bed is still under warranty period. On the same day a mail from Silvia Rodrigues was sent that the issue will be solved only if I pay. I didn’t agree to pay. On 19th July 2014, they sent me a SMS that the issue is resolved from their end and they are closing the complaint. The defect is not due to customer usage but due to employment of sub-standard material and processes. Moreover the product is under warranty period, yet Tata House Full is bullying me to pay them to repair it. This is like extortion. Tata House Full is cheating its customer openly. Tata group is very big. But it doesn’t mean that it falls beyond the limits of Indian law and can twist consumer protection laws as per it wishes. This is crime and I urge you please take action. I am helpless. Request you to please address this issue and oblige me.
