I had used Aggarwal Packers and Movers (DRS Group) to move my furniture along with household stuff from Pune to Hyderabad on May 7th 2013. Aggarwal Packers and Movers as a policy have made it mandatory to take up insurance for the goods being sent for any unintentional damage caused and I also took up the insurance from them. My furniture which I had bought for INR 120000 from Home Town which was not even an year old was badly damaged with the wood being scrapped on most of my furniture items like; 1. TV Stand, 2. Dining Utility, 3. Night Stand, 4. Book Shelf And the book shelf along with Shoe Stand, cloth stand and 4 statues were broken as well. Once I found out about these damages on delivery of the goods, I called up several times on the numbers given to me by the sales team and no one came to my rescue. At the time of goods being packed, I had paid 10000 Rs and balance was paid on delivery through a cheque. When no one at Agarwal Packers and Movers helped me, I had to finally put a stop payment on the cheque issued. Only after this, Aggarwal Packers and Movers contacted me. I insisted that either they settle my claims for damages and only then I will issue the cheque. Then followed a series of follow ups when finally they told me that they will repair the damages. For broken items, they bought wood which was not even of the color my furniture is and simply nailed it on to the damaged part and for all the furniture that was scrapped (it was laminated MDF wood), they painted it which is completely visible and has spoil my furniture. When I told them that their work is not good and I need my claim to be settled else I will register a complaint with the consumer court, I was told that I can do whatever I want and that I will have to pay the balance amount. They started mentally torturing me for this. I opposed this and then they said that if I want my furniture to be repaired properly, they will need to pick it up and send it to the experts. I am afraid that if I do so, they will take all my furniture which is worth over 1 lacs and not get it fixed. They have been continuously torturing me for this and I really do not have the time and patience to leave my job and fight with them. Please help me out. They once told me that as per their companies policy they will only pay 60% of the value of the goods and collect the damaged goods as well. If I get paid only 60% of the value of goods, then what is the use of taking insurance policy and this policy should have been disclosed to me at the time of selling me the services of Aggarwal Packers and Movers. This never happened. Request you to please help me on this.
