I’m finally lodging a complaint here as nothing else has worked. I’ve sent over 500 emails (I have a copy for each and everyone along with an automated email from Airtel saying they’ve received it) and called probably double that to sort it out however no luck. I cancelled my Airtel Broadband connection (1354335) in August 2013 via email as I had been trying to cancel it over the phone for 2 months before that but they refused to cancel and kept sending me bills. Despite having cancelled over the phone AND email, I am still being harassed by Airtel legal team to pay despite the fact that I’ve already paid for 2 months extra and they’re the ones who owe me a refund. I’m a woman and I live alone so they keep sending recovery guys to threaten me and somebody from Delhi keeps calling to say they will take me to court unless I pay them 6000 INR! The last call even mentioned that if they file a case against me, I would have to come to Delhi, and I will lose a lot more than just money as I’m single and I’ll be traveling alone so there’s no saying what may happen to me! And there were two men who burst out laughing! That threat was the last straw! The detailed descriptions of events are listed below: August 2013: Raised a request (via email as they refused to take it over the phone) to cancel my Airtel Broadband connection as it hadn’t been working for over a month! (36442452) Got an e-mail from Airtel saying that they deactivated my connection from the 28th of September (despite my sending the email in August) and you will have to pay 1678 INR outstanding amount dated 9th October! (again despite canceling my connection in August!!) Paid that amount just to get them off my back. Receipt number 041458. Jan 2014: Got a call from Airtel again to pay an outstanding amount of 6000 INR. I asked them to send me a bill explaining why I had to pay 6000 INR since I had disconnected my service 4 months ago but received no response. Then got an extortion call from Airtel legal team saying that they would file a case against me if I don’t pay the outstanding amount of 6000 INR. I mailed all the documents to Airtel again and again to check in their system. After that no response from Airtel only calls threatening to take me to court! A company like Airtel making constant extortion calls is appalling! Before you take legal action against me, please be informed that under the section 389; putting a person in fear of accusation of offense, in order to commit extortion is a serious offense and I will not put with any more of your threats or harassment! I’ve attached the email I sent to cancel my services (along with the date) for reference along with the reply from Airtel agreeing I was facing a lot of connection problems, that my connection hadn’t been working at all for a month but still asking me to pay for 2 extra months, which I already have.
