My normal mobile data usage is 300MB per month. But for 8 hours between 19th Aug 2013 11PM to 20th Aug 2013 7AM, Airtel has charged me for downloading 900MB. According to bill, total downloaded for the month is 1200MB (900MB + 300MB). Free limit is 500MB. Hence I have been charged for 700MB and the charge being Rs 8000.00 All the mobile apps in my phone are downloaded on Wifi connection. Mobile data connection is used only for checking emails. I have not downloaded 900MB in that month. It is highly improbable to download 900MB on a phone. Airtel’s charge (as per bill) that I have downloaded 900MB in 8 hours is practically impossible and hence proves it is billing error. Reference: Items 1705 to 1914 in the itemised bill number: 174439908 (bill attached) All efforts to educate Airtel (Customer Care, Nodal Office, Appellate, Legal & Retention teams) on this impossibility of mobile data download was not useful. Airtel refused to understand the issue. Airtel refused to provide internet logs to show 900MB data usage. So Airtel does not have any evidence to prove I have downloaded 900MB in 8 hours. This proves Airtel has levied the charges just to harass its customers without any strong evidence.
1) Restoration for my mobile connection 9886300863 2) Cancellation of incorrect charges (specifically, reversal of 8 hours 900MB data usage) 3) Compensation of Rs 20,000 for my troubles. 4) Token compensation on Airtel to fix their billing system.
