Airtel Data Plan – Customer Care Provided Wrong Info

My airtel no. is 996764xxx. Over a period of 3 months I had asked customer care representatives to increase my data usage limit (plan was suggested by Air tel and I had agreed to implement it and was assured that it would be reflected in the next month’s bill) but the same was not attended to. I had placed calls to customer care representatives requesting my case be put to the accounts division regarding the extra usage of data (up to 2GB whereas previous plan was up to 1 GB) whereas I was under the impression that my plan had been increased to 2 GB. But nothing transpired out of it and my line was disconnected. Following which I took a new Sim of Vodafone. Afterwards I was contacted by some person from airtel regarding the bill clarification which I said I wud pay upon redressal of my problem of non activation of plan from Airtel’s side and had sent him my personal email id as I was at that point of time unable to use my official email id due to some configuration settings. However no mails were forthcoming and In the weeks that followed my Mother was called up and asked to tell me that a case had been filed against me instead of mailing me the details. I consider this the first act of harassment and strongly condemn it. However after repeated mail exchanges I paid the revised amount and had expressed my desire to discontinue services with airtel and have documents for portability. I had also requested the documents and procedure for the same which would be required, to which the reply I received was to visit an Airtel gallery. My job being at site I was unable to visit one and had not used the airtel Sim since July. However on 1st I received a bill for bill payment for the month of August and when I mailed Mr. Shailesh Dhopatkar (lawyer from Airtel’s side who was the middle man for the negotiation) his reply was a detailed mail related to what I wanted to do – discontinue services or have number portability. If he was aware of any such procedure he should have shared the same with me via a return mail which he did not do. I consider this as the second case of harassment. Having stated my complaint I request you to kindly guide me in the way ahead as I want to stop this meaningless harassment of both myself and my FAMILY with scant information sharing and dirty tactics of Airtel. I strongly condemn this act of airtel regarding lack of information sharing and want to pursue a course of action against it. Kindly guide me. Kaustav Bhadury
