I am writing to you as I am hoping I will get reprieve from the harassment by Airtel collection agencies. (This is a long mail as my contention needs explanation)
It is very sad that after me holding a number with Airtel for 8 years along with numbers of my mother and father, I had to move to another service provider as Airtel has given me incorrect information hence leading me to have an exorbitant bill.
The background to the dispute I have raised with the Customer Service Ex and the nodal officer (for which they all displayed various levels of lack of reason) is that my bill, month on month is a total of Rs 4000 to 5000. The split being usually 90% of calls, 9% of SMS and 1 % of WAP/ Net usage. Hence my internet usage bill is Rs 400-500 per month (maximum). A historical study of my bills will clearly reveal this.
I have changed 3-4 phones in my history with Airtel and for my recent handset I called up Airtel during Feb / March informing about the Samsung Galaxy Ace phone I have bought and that I need the internet setting for me to access the net , just like how I used to in before handsets. I was briefed by the Customer Service Ex that I had a Rs 99 rental plan and I agreed to that continuing. I was also instructed on what I am supposed to do once I receive the settings.
I again called the Customer Service Ex in April to inform them that I am getting unnecessary pop ups on my phone , down loads on wall papers I have never done and default connects to the internet which I have never done ( as I only browse rarely on Google and frequently on Facebook ). I have also highlighted that this usage pattern is unlike mine hence there is some problem so please resend the settings to what was used before. They agreed to reverse my Wallpaper download charges and cricket score enquiry (leave alone I despise the game, not sure how I ever would download the score).
After all of that I get a bill of Rs 7000 with Rs 4000 as my internet usage. This is when I decided to step in and take action as all my calls to Airtel have been recorded and my history of usage will clearly show that this billing has an aberration.
I would like to put on record that Airtel sends information to people without proper guidance because the Customer Service Ex are not equipped with intelligence to do anything apart from doing what’s told by the system and have no understanding of what the customer is requesting for. They do not have the basic understanding of the usage pattern or the past history.
So I have disputed this bill and with no reprieve from the Nodal officer, I decided to pay for the call charges, the SMS and my Basic WAP usage and not for the internet billing costs as I have NOT used the same. Then I decided to cut the connection as Airtel also had my deposit and can use it against the bill.
After this is when Airtel decided to show me an even dirtier face.(They did not try tracing me to get back their loyal customer , they decided to trace me for money ( peanuts as I call it for the amount I have been paying you ))
• Airtel started sending people to my initial address where they are bothering my old mother.
• Airtel has my e mail address, if they wanted to mail me but how can they go to any house uninvited.
• Then Airtel very smartly ( read as slimily) decided to track my new number with Vodafone and call me ( I appreciate that more that someone troubling my mother )
• The language used by Airtel has 2 faces – Customer Service Ex and the 2 people who spoke to me claiming to be collection agents is so different. How can Airtel be so hypocritical? The gentleman – Mr Rajesh and a Lady – Ms Lakshmi decided to pick on my gender by saying how I as a lady can talk so rudely , being a lady don’t u have any shame?” .These are the exact words that I was asked. ( now I can expect to hear that and keep quiet)
• Please note I am not the one who will shy away from paying bills , I have an Imaaculate clean record with Airtel with month on month Timely Bill Pay , and I believe in keeping a clean record , but such behavior from Airtel is wondering how low can Airtel stoop to have such filthy talking agents call up people , where is brand image that is portrayed.
What am I requesting for:
• I would like these people to stop calling me, and start corresponding on email. I also would like them not to visit my residence as my mother can have her BP shooting up in adverse circumstances and I will not have any one doing that to her.
• I would like Airtel to study my internet usage for the past many years and see what my internet usage pattern was to notice the aberration in the month of April/May, this I clearly attribute it to misinformation by the Customer Service Ex.
• I would also respect if Airtel were to close this dispute in an amicable manner and not have derogatory collection agents being sent as this will only push me into taking legal action. I am willing to talk and explain the case ALL over again to a person who is courteous , logical and understands my Airtel History,not filthy talking rogues ( which I am still surprised Airtel would use )

I am a loyal customer to any brand I buy, moving away from Airtel has its own set of problems with other service providers but this problem I am currently facing with your people needs to stop.
