I am a policy holder in Birla Sun Life Insurance (Policy No: 005240790). I was introduced to the policy through Catholic Syrian Bank, Vilabhagom Branch, Kerala (by then Manager: T.L. Francis) on 30th Nov, 2011. The agent portrayed the policy as a pension policy with the terms that I will have to pay an annual premium of Rupees 99,600 for 3 years and then I would be getting a pension amount on monthly basis after the 5th year. I am a NRI residing in Abu Dhabi, UAE, hence I was advised by the manager of CSB that I need only sign the document and provide the necessary supporting documents for the policy and that he shall update the policy details promptly as per the supporting documents provided. I signed the document and left for UAE the next day itself. I did not receive any updates or acknowledgement regarding my policy other than the booklet received by my wife. I have made payment for first two premiums of Rupees 99,600 as per my policy norms and it is on 7th June, 2013 I noticed that my policy tenure has been kept as 27 years, my communications details given in the policy were fabricated ones and that I would be only receiving an yearly payment rather than on monthly basis (the amount being meager considering the long tenure my money is being deposited with the scheme). My questions are: 1. How can a pension scheme of 27 years be provided for a 63 year old individual? 2. Why BSLI did not contact me for clarification regarding the above question? 3. As I have lost trust in the policy, how can I claim back the amount I have already paid (Rupees 1,99,200)? I bought this issue to the notice of Mr. Sreejith (Advisor, BSLI Pattom Branch, Trivandrum), who after discussing with his Branch Manager advised us to send a grievance mail to you, stating that you will be able to revert back with a solution This is a clear case of fraudulent behavior from your agent who has forged my policy details to his convenience and incurred loss to me. Kindly do the needy to further investigate in to this grievance of mine and initiate the procedures to reimburse the amount of Rupees 1,99,200 to me as I have been tricked into a policy that is not beneficial for me in any aspect
