Change from postpaid to prepaid

My mobile number is 9890441771. I had visited an Airtel Retail Centre in Panjim and requested to change my number from postpaid to prepaid and also completed all the formalities like filling of forms and paying the unbilled amount in my account.
i has specifically mentioned that untill my prepaid SIM gets activated,the postpaid SIM should not be deactivated and the executives at the airtel retail centre ahd assured me that this will not happen.
however now both my sim cards are showing inactive and i cannot make or receive my important calls.
this is very unpleasant on part of airtel that they have not followed the instructions properly and put me in a situation where i am left with no sim and cannot make or receive my important calls.
i have been with airtel for past almost 4 years. such stupid mistakes and carelessness cannot be accepted.
please take a note of above and do the needful
