Complaint regarding unethical business approach by HDFC

I, the undersigned,Bharti M Kamalia, have been holding credit card no. 4346781102199338 with HDFC Bank. Last year, there was a debit in my account in relation to the credit card for the reasons unknown to me. When approached your officer for inquiry about the said debit, I was informed that the charges debited by the bank would be credited again if I opt for HDFC ERGO insurance policy. Having full trust in your bank, I agreed and subscribed to HDFC ERGO Accidental Protection Plan – HC, Policy no. 51033119/00001. Having fulfilled all requirements and conditions of the bank, I expected standard business practice from bank also but I was very disappointed and disheartened to know that the credit of deductions related to credit card which I was assured of by the bank never took place. This is breach of not only trust but also ethical business practice. However I overcame this bad episode and almost forgot it. But I was yet to experience some more shocking treatment by your bank. On 20/12/2012, I contacted your tele-operator on phone regarding renewal of said insurance policy and told him not to renew the policy. I was assured that no automatic renewal will be done and the bank will wait for my approval for renewal. Since I had experience of unethical attitude with your bank as mentioned earlier, I did not want to renew the policy. But as if previous incidence was not enough, I was again shocked by the bank when I received renewed policy document and also debit of premium of Rs. 4758/-. This type of breach of normal business standards, leave alone the ethics, can not be allowed especially when you behaved in such a callous way and harassed a senior citizen and a widow like me. Now I want my all my dues immediately with consequential relief, as mentioned below: (1)Re-deposit of debited charges in relation to my credit card, with due interest. (2)Re-credit of debited amount as policy premium, with due interest. It should be understood that I am senior citizen and widow, and this is harrasment to me which certainly is not tolerable at all. Kindly help me to get my right and money back.

The insurance scheme is not as described. So I want both of my premiums back. Total sum of Rs 9500.00 I also want to claim mental harassment settlement.

Yours sincerely,
Bharti Mukunbhai Kamaliya
