Bad Design of CTS2010 cheques. Please fix it ASAP. The current system of CTS cheques has defined the standard for cheque format. However there are still some fundamental design errors. I do not know why IFSC code has been invented. This is nothing but branch code. This design failure in this is, it cannot be converted to a MICR Code. Already the MICR code has the branch level information and IFSC code is a duplicate info on the cheque book. In USA, The MICR band in the cheque has -cheque no, account number, banks MICR code. There is a magnetic reader to recognize the cheque’s MICR. It recognizes cheque no, account number, banks MICR number Only amount is entered. Even Yesterday, There was a wrong posting of a debit to my friends account in Indusind. These manual errors happen, because, the account number is manually entered by the person. Please change the cheques MICR design so that account number becomes a part of it. In future, People should not enter the account number, They only need to scan the MICR of the cheques. Only amount needs to be verified. Kindly do the needful. Marked to RBI
