Easygotrip – low fares False information on website cheating customers

Here are the details of my transaction: On 14 May 2015, I was trying to book flight tickets from Mumbai to Hyderabad for six of my family members through Air India flight AI-50 for Sunday 17 May 2015 flight at 20:50 hours. As this website was giving the lowest fare, I had gone ahead with the payment of Rs. 20,058 from my credit card and booked the tickets. The booking reference number was ET60715. Within half-an-hour, an executive from Easygotrip called me back and said that as these low fares are no longer available, he is unable to confirm the booking and asked me if I want to book the tickets at a higher rate by paying the difference amount. When I said that I don’t want to pay the higher amount because other websites are giving for lesser amount, he said he will reverse the amounts and arrange to send back the refund. Almost immediately after that, I even received a formal e-mail from them (support@easygotrip.com) stating as follows: “Kindly note your below booking is Rejected due to Fare Change and your total transaction amount will be reversed back in your account as per Bank procedure. Easygotrip Rejection Reversed No C:658.” But, even after 15 days had passed, I still did not see this refund credited. I tried calling their call center number 80801 44002. They have set it up such that when you choose “Refunds” option, the call never gets connected. It will keep giving the message saying “All our executives are busy right now. We have noted down your number and will call you back”. That call back never happened. I wrote an e-mail to them on 29th May asking them to check why the refund has not yet been credited. I saw that they never respond to your e-mails also. I tried them contacting multiple times and sent an e-mail reminder again on 2nd June 2015 stating that I am unable to reach them on phone. Then it struck me that I might be able to reach to the executives on phone, only if I choose any other option other than Refund on the IVR menu. I tried that and for sure, could get through the executives. The same helpline is very busy when somebody is choosing to talk on refunds, but gets connected for other transactions!!! That is interesting! Finally, on 6th June, I could speak to one of their executives. (Every time I spoke to them, I used to send out an e-mail to support@easygotrip.com giving the details of my call like when I spoke, to whom I spoke and what is the assurance given by call center executives). He took the details of rejection reversal transaction number and confirmed that the amount being asked is 20,058 rupees and mentioned that the reversal will be effected by Monday, 8th June as it was already a Saturday. He further assured that within 72 hours of that, I should have the amount credited in my account. When I see that nothing has happened by the promised timeline, I again called them on 13th June and asked to speak to the supervisor or manager, if there is someone since I wanted to escalate the matter. 1. My money worth 20,058 rupees is blocked by this company since 14 May 2015. 2. I have spent lot of time and effort in calling them and mailing them. 3. It caused me lot of mental anguish and frustration about having to deal with such blatant cheating in today’s connected world.
