Enfield Bikes – Faulty Rear Chain Sprocket Teeth breaking

Ref : Classic ME3U3S5CODK315329 Sub : Warranty Claim_ Rear Sprocket Sir, I bought the captioned Classic from your authorized dealership, M/s. East India Agro Industries (P) Ltd., Kolkata, in October 2013. I complied with the Free Service Schedules and till date the motorcycle have recorded a total run of 16434 kms. Recently, I detected that one teeth of the rear sprocket is broken. Since, your Dealership workshop was closed for Puja holidays, I reported the matter to them, yesterday. However, they say that the warranty is limited to 10000 kms or 1 year, whichever is earlier and hence pleaded their helplessness in replacing the sprocket under warranty. Please note that I am a handicapped, having Polio on the right leg. However, I have an immense passion for anything automobile. Earlier in 2008, I bought a Bullet Standard 350 from the same Dealership and till date it made a run of 57000 kms. I only replaced the chain at 38000 kms. Even today, both the sprockets are in fairly good condition although I used this bike to travel to several distant places in India and Nepal including Khardungla Pass. To my understanding, the new range of Royal Enfield bikes is coming fitted with the same rear sprocket and hence should have fair mileage longevity. As a well-wisher of Royal Enfield may I bring to your attention that if you make a survey, you will get the feedback about some inherent defects which almost all the customers of your product are facing. Amongst those, this incident of rear sprocket teeth breakage and silent block bush play, is most common. Again, your supplying the bikes with Fiamm (wind) batteries tend to inconvenience the customers since there is no Service Center of that manufacturer and your Dealerships are also reluctant and indifferent to any battery related service / complaints. To my understanding, one reason that can be attributed for sprocket teeth failure is that the drive chain that you are fitting in the vehicles are defective such that they are not flexing properly. I hereby appeal to you to please do the needful to replace the defective sprocket and the chain as well.

Replacement of the chain and sprocket and ensure that it does not again break at a very short usage of 16000 kms. It is supposed to last for at least 30000 kms.
