Sub: Cheating for Insurance Policy from RLICL–HS Sharma(Contract No 18890284; Client Id No 79653276)
Dear Sir,
Please refer to my letter number IRDA/ HSS/RELI/2011/01 dated 12 November 2011(Copy attached) regarding problems of insurance with RLICL.
As had been stated in my earlier letter I am facing problem with Reliance Insurance. I had written a number of letters to RLICL and a copy of latest letter is attached. The problem is as below,
1. In 2011 I had been approached by one Ms Pooja from RBS office, on phone, offering me a loan of Rupees Ten lakhs. When I agreed she asked me to take an Insurance. Since I had no interest in taking insurance, I resisted and asked that it is not a ploy to sell Insurance. However RBS agent (Ms Pooja) told that it is a one time security requirement and insurance money will be returned with interest/ premium on return of loan. Since I was told that it was a precondition for loan and loan to me is as good as approved I agreed to take one time policy.
2. When I received the insurance form it had multiple premium requirement. I again spoke to RBS agent but she said this is only one time and for loan security only. Accordingly I did not sign for regular payment. However on receipt of the policy I found that somebody had signed in the box made for Regular Premium.
3. I informed ExDir RLICL in July 2011and received a letter from reliance regretting the trouble (Copy sent with letter dated 12 November 2011).
4. As I had said earlier I have no interest in the policy and had agreed only to take one time policy for loan. Since it was a case of cheating, and loan was only a ploy to issue a policy, I want RLICL to return the money and make an enquiry and punish the agent.
5. RLICL apologized for the fiasco but is insisting on taking one time insurance now. They are also not returning the money.
In view of the above it is requested that Reliance insurance may be asked to return the money taken from me as premium with interest and punish the culprits so that they donot cheat others in future.
Looking forward to your kind reply
Thanking you,
Yours Sincerely
Dr HS Sharma

Sub: Wrong practice in Insurance
Sir,
I had been approached by some agent in the name of RBS/ABN to take loan and was tricked into taking a Reliance Policy as precondition for loan disbursal. I was not interested in any policy and has refused but since I was in need of funds and I was told it is precondition and only one time premium is to be paid I agreed. Later I found it was all fraud and wrote to Reliance (Copy of my letters to Reliance Insurance is attached0. I also informed RBS but they asked me to get in touch with reliance only, as they have such scheme.
Now reliance is asking me to take one time premium policy, while I want my money back(A copy of Reliance letter is attached)
Considering I was not interested in policy and was given a policy fraudulently, I would request your kind self to kindly advise reliance to return the money.
I also will request that such cases of cheating may be investigated and punished so that people do not suffer in future.
Thanking you,
Yours Sincerely
Dr HS Sharma
