Without my knowledge or any prior notice my salary account with HDFC Bank was converted to savings account. As a result some amounts were being deducted for not maintaining minimum balance of Rs. 5000. I was unaware of this as I was under the impression that it is a 0 balance account. As a result one of my cheque bounced for insufficient fund (less by Rs. 50). This is a criminal offense and I could have been sued. Moreover, this has led to a blemish in my credibility. After the cheque bounced a bank employee called me to intimate that I do not have sufficient funds at the fag end of working hours on Saturday. It is at this time I got to know that there might be something fishy going on. Even though I have repeatedly ask the bank for reasons they have provided some improbable reasons and instead of resolving the matter at one go, they are deducting the money and then reimbursing it on my behest and then again deducting.
