07/08/2013 HINDUSTAN LEVER Subject: Pre-mature expiry of Pureit Germkill Battery Kit (Much less output of 507 Liter than rated capacity of 1500 L) This is to inform you that I had purchased one Water Purifier of Hindustan Lever make on 21/02/2008. As such I was not happy with its performance but the latest shock that I got was when the Germ Kill Battery unit installed on 20/05/2013 (ICR No. 13214,dt.20/05/2013) by M.S.Service Centre, Kolkata-48, Price: Rs 490.00) expired on 06/08/2013,delivering the least amount of safe water which is beyond any stretch of justifications. It has been proved beyond doubt that the Germkill unit’s purification capacity is much less than what is claimed by HUL (1500L) even after taking variation of temperature and humidity into considerations. Let me explain how I came to this conclusion. • We are only two family members. • Water from pureit is consumed exclusively for DRINKING purpose. • Drinking water consumption is 6.5 Liter/day (maximum) for our family of two members. • The purifier unit is placed in a room at ambient temperature. Municipality supplied piped water is used in it. • Purchased a kit of 1500 liter purifying capacity which was installed on 20/05/2013. • Life of this kit ended on 06/08/2013, i.e., after 78 days. No guests had visited our place during this span. • That means, purified water output was 78 X 6.5 Liter= 507 Liter (33.8%) against an expected amount of 1350 Liter (considering de-rating of capacity by 10% due to fluctuations in temperature and humidity). As I have no alternative source of safe water, I was constrained to book for new GKB on 6th night (Order # RFS/317836) and a new Kit was installed on 7th against this order (ICR No. 20352, date: 07/08/13) As your product didn’t deliver quantity anywhere close to your declared capacity, I would request you to arrange for refund of Rs 490/= paid by me against installation on 07/08/13 or supply me one Kit free of charge immediately. This appears to me as a bad business practice as you are misguiding the consumer by claiming a purifying capacity much much higher than the actual. I do hope, you will do needful as otherwise I will be constrained to drag you to CONSUMER COURT. Also, I may consider taking up the issue to other forum highlighting your unethical means of business. I have no problem if you mention the exact purifying capacity of each germkill unit with some tolerance. You must know there is economics behind every purchase. I am sure; you will not want to lose a customer forever let alone advocating to near and dear ones favoring your product as done earlier.
