Cottage Room No 255 was booked in “Hotel Sea Hawk Digha“,(whose registered & booking office is Sea-Hawk [India] Pvt. Ltd,228, Jessore Road, Kalindi,Kol-89) from its Kolkata Booking Office in “Modern Exchange,12B Russel Street,Kol-71″ in March, for 2 nights from 12th to 14th april.On 3rd of April we went there to cancel the booking and 25% was charged on the room rent.But in the receipt it was clearly written that”Cancellation of any booking will be charged @ 25% and 50% on total accomodation charges if intimated before 48 hours and 24 hours respectively(Holidays will not be counted), otherwise full accomodation charges will be recouped.” When we(myself, Rohan Chattopadhyay, and my wife Debdeepa Ganguly, in whose name the booking was made) wanted clarification as to the discrepancy in their written norms and practice, the person over the counter Mr Sukumar Roy failed to explain the meaning of the terms and conditions printed in the receipt.Then he made us talk to people over phone whose names were not disclosed even after repeated asking. We were not allowed to talk to the management and only voices over phone who didnt give their identities repeatedly told us that we were wrong but on their part they could not explain properly their own terms and conditions, instead just stated that they always take cancellation charges, whenever the client may come. However, this statement of theirs is totally in contradiction with their printed T&C.Their T&C clearly stated that if client comes before 48 hours he will be charged 25%,otherwise he will be fully recouped.As we had come to cancel 9 days before, we failed to understand why 25% cancellation charges was deducted,which they also failed to explain but just deducted on their own sweet will, and why we were not recouped full accomodation charges. We were refunded Rs 6469/- after deducting 25% cancellation charges,i.e. Rs 1750/-, and not the total booking amount( as promised in ther booking slip) which was Rs 8219/-.

We incurred a financial loss of Rs,1750/- which was deducted as 25% cancellation charges, even though we went for cancellation 9 days back, and not 48 hours before, which is the basis for their deduction of 25% cancellation charges,as per their T&C on the booking receipt.
