I had applied for a double cylinder Gas Connection on 24.02.2014. I was told to pay INR 250.00, by Sri Rama Agencies (INDANE Gas distributer), to get the paper work done for the affidavit. I submitted the form, all the relevant documents and paid INR 230.00 and asked for a receipt. However, Mr. Reddy, Manager-Sri Rama Agencies told me that I will not get the receipt for the money I paid. I was also informed that I will only get the gas connection after 15-30 days. Meanwhile, I kept on checking about the status of my connection, but I was told to wait for more time. When I went back on 04.04.2014, I was informed that I can take the connection after the payment but along with the Stove. I went to the agency again the next day to inform that I will take the connection but without the Stove. Upon hearing this, the manager immediately told me that 1 person will come after 15 days and then only after 30 days, I will get the connection as there is a short supply from the supplier. Upon telling them that I will talk to ‘Consumer Forum’, the manager told me to do so and misbehaved with me as well. After that, I checked on Indane Gas website and found out that the Waitlist for connection against the agency is ‘0’. After this, I filed a complaint with the Indian Oil Customer care. I filed 2 complaints, 1. Complaint No. – 1385696 – For not providing Gas Connection even after 40 days. And 2. Complaint No. – 1385762 – For not giving me the Receipt for the money I have already paid. I was told from the Indian Oil Customer care that I will get a response in Maximum 48 Hrs. Upon my repeated calling the Indian Oil customer care, I only got answers that I need to wait 6 days-8 days minimum. Again, only after mentioning that if I don’t get a call back by 14:00 Hrs on 09.04.2014, I have no other option but to complain to Consumer Forum, I got a call from the agency saying that ‘Since, I have made a complaint, I need to take back the money, file an affidavit on my own, and again wait for 30 more days (Total 70 days= 40+30) to hear if I will get any connection’. And upon my asking about the other complaint, the agency said that they have not received any such complaint. In case if that is the procedure, then the agency could have informed me earlier and not wait for 40 days, as now after giving the affidavit, the agency will treat my case as new and purposely further delay the connection by 30 more days. Hence, I want to complaint against the behavior of the Gas Agency for not giving the connection even after 40 days and also misleading the consumer about the delivery, in case the consumer doesn’t want to take the Stove from the agency. And now the agency wants to delay my connection for another 30 days (Total 70 days) just because I have complaint against the agency and its manager Mr. Reddy.
I want to get my double Gas Connection at the earliest without any delay. Also, my application shouldn’t be treated as a new after the affidavit, as it is the mistake of the agency in not notifying me on time about the same. Hence, there should not be any delay because of the same. Also, I want a proper justification and written apology from the Agency for delaying the connection. Additionally, I want strict action taken against the agency for 1. Misleading the people by just saying that due to short supply it will take min. 30 days for a new connection and 2. Purposely delaying the connection if the customer doesn’t want to purchase Stove from the agency. Also, appropriate monitory compensation (to be decided by the Consumer Forum) against my excess electricity bill due to excess usage of Electric Stove.
