Sub:- Imposition of Penalty/late payment charge and interest on credit card no. 516068083578008 of Ramesh Kumar Garg.
Dear Sir,
In the month of Nov 2008 I have paid Rs. 30083/- against payment due for statement date 12/09/2008 ( copy of credit card statement enclosed) . Sir in the cheques amt was written Rs. 300083/- instead of Rs. 30083/- ( one zero extra written) and this was only due to human error/error of omission. I have deposited Rs. 30,000/- in HSBC bank on 03/10/2008 ( 2 October 2008 was holiday) for payment of your credit card due on 02/10/2008 (as deposit slip enclosed for your kind consideration.). Sir see the figure (30083), due to this extra ordinary figure one zero was wrongly extra written in the amount , in words amt was written correctly but in numerals amt was written wrong. Sir I am Chartered Accountant by profession and in the month of Sep and Oct I was very busy in finalisation of Audit and Income Tax Matters. Due to my heavy involvement in professional work this human error happened.. The cheques was also verified by my staff but no mistakes in the cheques was detected by them due to this figure (30,083/-) . Sir this is not at all willful default but human error and error of omission, as the amt was deposited in the bank in time for payment (deposit slip enclosed ).
Sir, I never received any phone call from credit card department about the mistake. On the other hand for preparation of card I had attended 50 phone calls. The very same day when I received letter from credit card division I dropped the fresh cheques in sky pack drop box and total delay was only for 6 days.
I am very much shocked to see the late payment and interest. Please see my past record of credit card use and payment records. Sir I am your customer not opportunity. I am very much shocked and panic and stopped using of credit card since the month of Oct 2008. Being a customer of your bank I must get one opportunity in a life time to rectify the mistake. It was my misfortune I used the card for Rs. 30,,000/- and payable figure was Rs. (30083/-) and I got considerable penalty and interest as well. On the other side I am getting my credit card limit increased from 36,000/- to 46,800/- being a good customer.

In my life time I never defaulted in payment of credit cards/loans and never paid penalty and interest.
I am trying to communicate with customer care no. 66016601 sine Nov 2008 but till date I could not get any reply from customer care. I think there is no system at customer care to solve the problems of customer.
Since the last two months I am putting cheques in Sky pack drop boxes in time for payment of minimum due payment but cheques were not collection by bank in time and I was asked to pay cash with an assurance that if I will pay cash the cheques will not in cashed and will be written back to me but cheques was also incashed . If bank commit mistakes then this is not mistake if customer commits any human error that is heavy mistakes and attracts penalty. Since last two months I am paying two times and also getting late payment penalty and interest as well.
I hereby request you to look into the matter and wave entire penalty and interest imposed upon me. Sir this is not default at all. I can not afford this penalty and interest at all. Even since the last two months being paid two times I am getting penalty and interest.
Maximum I am ready to pay interest for delayed period of 6 days.
Sir if you are unable to avoid penalty and interest proceeding please cancel my credit card immediately. I can not afford further penalty and interest. Delayed in cheques collection was also due to bank default. Cheques are not collected from Drop Boxes in time, this is not my default. Please considering the humanity and my past payment record please wave the penalty otherwise entire my family budget will be disturbed.
I am enclosing copy of deposit slip of Rs. 30,000/- in HSBC bank in time for payment of your credit card and copy of cheques in which figures were wrongly written for your kind consideration.
