I had booked a 2AC from Rajahmundry to chennai, DOJ being 29.10.2013,couple of days after cyclone Helen crossed A.P.Due to possibly after-effects of HELEN, quite a few trains on the said route were either cancelled or were running late;my train was late on the sais date and same were confirmed through the SMSes to 139, the train was running atleast 3hrs late.Subsequently i had to travel by road to vijayawada and take another train in the midnight to chennai.Soon after reaching my residence i filed TDR for the refund of my ticket, which the website would not take.i then mailed ti IRCTC about the problem, but the answer given by them was ridiculous and unconvincing. The reply read- ‘(CNF, ActDep: 09/10/2013 21:40)TDR TIME OUTSIDE LIMIT FOR PNR – 4155956610’ and the reason being : “TDR was filed beyond the prescribed time limit.” With all the mental tension due to delay of the train, the earliest possible time to file TDR was the following day’s morning, which was done by me promptly.
Refund of ticket fare and appropriate penalty on IRCTC for refusing to pay the same
