I had bought my wedding reception ( pink and Gold) saree from Jashn, Vashi branch on the 26th of October 2013. After my wedding reception on the 1st of Dec i had given the saree for dry cleaning in the third week of Dec along with many other sarees. However during the dry cleaning process there was a mix of colour (Pink on Gold) only in my wedding saree. There were no issues in the other sarees. After the incident we went to return the saree to the same store from where we had purchased it. However i was not given any written receipt by the company upon returning the saree. Upon receiving the saree they forwarded it to the quality department for analysis. I was in touch with Mr, Ashok from the vashi store and Mr. Roshan who was the sales manager for Mumbai region. Mr. Roshan had initially given me the option to replace the saree with another one. But going by the past experience i asked for a full refund as i was afraid that the same issue might repeat itself in the future. However Mr. Roshan informed me that the company has a no refund policy and instead we arrived at a mutual understanding that i would be allowed to purchase sarees/dresses worth Rs. 25,000 from any Jashn outlets which was later on confirmed to me by Mr. Ashok over the phone. When i asked for a credit note for the equivalent amount i was informed that there is no need for a credit note and all i had to do was to present the bill at any of the outlets. Given the brand name of Jashn i went by what Mr. Ashok had said. I went to Jashn R city Ghatkopar on the 2nd of March for shopping and i presented the bill and informed the sales person of the entire incident. She said that she will check with the Vashi Branch and get back to me as soon as possible. However as i did not receive any word from the Ghatkopar branch i called them up and to enquire about the same. I later came to know that they were not aware of the incident and that Mr Roshan had been transferred to Pune. I later came to know that the quality department had not been informed about our agreement and that they have made a new saree. I spoke to Mr. Roshan on the 8th of March and he said that i should have done the shopping within two weeks of our agreement. I believe that the issue would not have arisen if i was issued a credit note in the first place. I do not want to take the same saree as i feel that i may face the same issue again. As i am a working woman having to balance both my work life and family life, I do not have the time to keep following up such issues.
Other than a full refund of the Rs. 25,000 which i had paid for the saree i request that the company should be penalized the maximum possible amount as per law for deceiving me in such a way. I also believe that the company should be forced to do away with the no refund policy for selling sub standard and spurious products to customers. I believe that it is pathetic to see companies use the law and put such terms and conditions which absolve them of most defect in their products. It is my strong belief that companies should be prohibited from putting such one sided terms and conditions which games the system in their favour.
