LG – Non-Cooling by Fridge

1. That I bought LG Single Door refrigerator GL225BEDG5 [Velvet Blossom] having Serial No. DH297 from Vijay Sales, Gurgaon on 14.07.2013 for an amount of Rs. 16,900/-, based on the representations, assurances, promotions made through different media both print and electronic that LG Company is a world renowned Company with the Tag-Line that Life’s Good. However all the assurances and representations fell flat when the fridge stopped working after only 3 months. 2. That on 15.10.2013 it was noticed that there was no cooling in the fridge and on calling Help-line No. 18001809999, complaint no. RNA131015068163 was registered. I was informed that Technician will contact in 24 hrs. Technician checked fridge on 16.10.2013 and stated that there is leakage of gas and gas needs to be refilled. Further he said that the complaint would be resolved in 24 hrs. The technician who came on 17.10.2013 stated that gas is choked in the pipes. He allegedly removed the choking, and filled gas. Complaint No. RNA131015068163 closed by technician. 3. That on 18.10.2013 again it was noticed that there was no cooling in the fridge. New complaint no. RNA 131018085626 was registered. Technician who came on 19.10.2013 told that the freezer component needs to be replaced as a crack/hole has developed leading to leakage of gas and said that it will be replaced in 24 hrs. However, no technician/engineer came for the next 2 days on the pretext that he was stuck up. The technician finally came on 22.10.2013 and on the said date denied any need for replacement of any part, again filling gas. However on my insistence the complaint was kept open, and marked as under observation. 4. The cooling lasted only for a day and again on 24.10.2013 the fridge had stopped cooling. Again the Help-Line was informed. This time however, as we wished for LG to replace the entire refrigerator, my wife was given the number of Mr. Manoj Chauhan, CCO for our area, to place such request. Mr. Manoj on being contacted assured that the complaint would be taken up urgently and resolved the very day. Technician came on very same day however, again gas was filled once more. Technician assured vehemently that there would be no more fault in the fridge. We insisted however that the complaint should be closed. It was only later that we realized to our utter shock and disgust that the technician/engineer had closed the complaint as resolved. 5. Not surprisingly, the fridge again stopped cooling on 25.10.2013. My wife again called Mr. Mohit to insist for replacement, however, again she was told that let the technician check. The technician/engineer arrived on said day empty-handed without any tools and stated that the grill [‘jaali’] on the back-side needs to be replaced and was awaiting the parts from NOIDA for the last few days. Replace the old refrigerator with a new refrigerator. In the alternative pay the expenses incurred on the refrigerator, i.e., sale price, amounting to a total of Rs. 16900/- (Rupees Sixteen thousand nine hundred only). Pay a sum of Rs.50000/-(Rupees Fifty thousand only), in compensation for the difficulty, trouble and agony suffered by me and my family members due to the defect in the goods and the deficiency in the service
