Maruti Alto 800 – pungent smell coming inside poor service by dealer

I bought a new Alto 800 LXI in July 2013 from Saboo Motors in Somaji Guda, Hyderabad. After driving the vehicle for 2-3 weeks we started feeling headaches and teary eyes due to what I believe was some pungent smell coming inside the vehicle. We took the car to the service centre in August and they worked on the vehicle and informed us that something was tightened under the glove box and some cleaning was performed. However, the smell still persisted even though we took the car couple of times to the service centre. We were out of country the whole month of October and when we returned back to india, we again took up the issue with the Saboo Service centre in Secunderabad. To our utter dismay the technicians there suggested us to use “Karpuram” (Camphor) to mask the smell. When we insisted on the resolution, they asked us to remove the seat cover and observe for some time. We cooperated and removed the seat covers, however, we realized that the problem was not resolved. This time I was asked to go to the Saboo main service centre in Somajiguda. Which I did some time in November. They kept the car and that car was there for over a month (I was not offered any loaner car and not even suggested that there is any such option) Since then the car has been with the Saboo Service centre and they claim to have changed seats, mats, etc but the problem is still persisting. Since the last time I was told that the problem has been fixed both Saboo and Maruti team has been insisting that there is no problem in the car. The car has been with them ever since. The matter has been escalated by me to the Saboo GM (Mr Ravi), Maruti TSM (Mr Sundeep) and then RM (Mr. Shiv Shankar) but, my problem has not been resolved. Initially, Mr. Ravi and Somajiguda service center did agree that there was problem and that it was a unique problem that they never seen/experienced before. Now, since they are not able to figure out the problem, they are insisting that the smell is normal smell of new car. Now I am being told to pick up my car which according to me is having the smell problem unresolved. This smell makes the head heavy and eyes teary which can lead to accidents. But Maruti and Saboo Motors are not willing to agree to it. Our family has been buying Maruti cars for almost 20 years now and almost all of them are bought from the same dealer. But this is the first time we have approached them with the problem because there is a problem. This is neither our first car nor are we not aware of the smell of new car. Our family and ourselves have been driving Alto for many years, it’s only this time that there is horrible smell emitting from somewhere in the car. One thing I would like you to note is that the Maruti folks who smelled the car are either drenched in some fuel smell or some perfume. How can they smell something when their senses are already full with some other kind of smell?? Mr. Saboo is not answering our phone calls. I hope Maruti Motor

I hope Maruti Motors and Saboo motors work together and deal with the issue honestly and resolve our problem and either give replacement new car which is in good condition without any visible or invisible problems or refund our money.
