Non refund of Fees paid during admission to Engg. course at Padampat Singhania University (SPSU) Udaipur

Sir,

My son Master Sahil Malhan, having AIEEE Roll no. 24108699 & AIR rank of
37188 participated in AIEEE 2009 Online Counselling for admissions in
Engineering in NITs and participating colleges.

In counselling Round no. 2 , he was alloted seat in Computer science &
Engg. branch in Sir Padampat Singhania University (SPSU), Udaipur.
Requisite documents alongwith Demand draft of Rs. 25000/ [Rs. 24000.00 + Rs. 1000.00] were deposited in nearest N.I.T. i.e. MANIT Bhopal with option for upgradation to Higher choices across institutes.

In Counselling round no. 3 , my son’s seat was upgraded to Electronics and
Communication branch in the same University and there was no change in
branch in 4th Round of Counselling.

We learn’t from AIEEE Central Counselling Board that there shall be Round 5 counselling for which only candidates , who had reported & taken
admissions in the alloted institutes by 24.07.09 were eligible. To retain
eligibility for Round 5 counselling for further improvement in Institute ,
my son , Sahil Malhan , took admission in Electronics and Communication
Branch of SPSU and opted for Upgradation to Higher choices across
institutes.

We deposited the required fees of Rs. 80,000/- vide receipt no. 1937 dtd.
24.07.09 as remaining fees of Rs. 25000/- were already deposited to CCB – AIEEE. As no written REFUND Rules existed in Prospectus and SPSU’s
website ( as on 24.07.09 ) , on enquiry , we were verbally informed by
Registrar’s office that if we cancel the admission before and on 3.08.09 ,
only Rs. 1000/- shall be deducted from the fees deposited.

We waited for the results of Round 5 counselling till 2.08.09 and reported
for cancellation of admission at SPSU, Udaipur on 3.8.09 as per the
instruction given to us by Registrar office as the last date of
cancellation of admission, thereby foregoing our further chance in CCB
counselling.

During my visit to SPSU on 3.08.09 , I met 4 parents who had also come
for admission cancellation as had been directed by Registrar’s office
during Admission.
We have received a Cheque no. 070356 dtd. 21.08.09 for Rs.
7917/- ( Seven thousand nine hundred and seventeen only) sent vide
Institute’s letter ref : SPSU/RO/010/2009-10/1041 dtd. 25.08.09 as Full
and final REFUND against an amount of Rs. 80000/- deposited by me for
admission of my son which does not seem to be logically correct since
during the course of admission process we have been following the
guidelines as were being made to understand by the Registrar from time to time.It may please be noted that all along we have been guided by your
institute about the admission processes and at no point of time we have
been informed or given in writing the deadlines and rules regarding
forefeiture of admission fee which in todays context should be absolutely
transparent.
Since my son did not join the Institute for a single day and did not use
any of the facilities , Academic / Hostel or Mess , the Fees deposited by
me may kindly be refunded without any further delay at the address given
below.
You would appreciate that I am a service class individual and losing such
a high amount without any fault of mine and that too by an institute /
Business group (Singhanias) of National repute is unthinkable & grossly
unfair.
