I had purchased a Renault scala Rxl diesel variant from trivandrum dealership in kerala. The purchase was made on behalf of my wife Dr Parvathy Prasad. She’s the registered owner of the vehicle. Vehicle details are as follows- Vehicle identification number – MEAHBA41CAOO2518 variant- E2DDA Engine number-E0424231 Invoice date- 8/3/2013 Black Renault scala Rxl diesel variant The matters of dispute which prompted me to file a case are… The fit and finish of the car is not upto the standard. There are large gaps between the right fender and bonnet as well as right bumper and headlights. The seating of the bonnet is poor. The gaps between the door panels were also too much that wiring can be seen. Corrosive patches were on the roof as well as the rear portion of the boot of the car. I had asked the dealer to fit for me blinker on rear view mirror, there also gap was too much and the led lights have stopped functioning as rain water entered through the gaps Wipers no longer function well and makes noise when in use Rear door cannot be opened at times from inside. Remote boot opening function doesn’t work at times. Suspension, maneuverability and steering response seems to be poorer than the test drive vehicle and I suspect it to be due to the tyres.
My vehicle has been fitted with jk tyre vectra and test drive vehicle was fitted with Bridgestone The poor quality of tyres has become more evident now as there’s a swelling on the sidewall at 1800kms jk tyre people have attributed it to impact injury on bad driving. I have driven the vehicle only on highways at recommend speeds and not taken it to harsh offroad conditions. The route details can be traced back from gps of my car. Having searched the internet I was able to find many blogs discussing the poor quality of jk tyre vectra. The price itself is less than that of Bridgestone. I asked them to replace all the tyres with Bridgestone tyres which they are not willing. I have added touchscreen display music system with navigation and reverse camera assist for which the dealer charged me 44000 which is available in the local market for 26000 and the system hasn’t worked well. I asked them to fit fog lamps for the variant which at the time of booking they told I will be able to but after purchase they are telling it is not possible due to technical difficulties. Nissan sunny which is technically the same vehicle, dealer is fixing fog lamps and I came to understand there was no technical issues rather unwillingness from the company’s part to provide couplers and fog lamps. I doubt whether this is trade restriction. Master brake cylinder s were faulty. For these many issues I should be suing the company for a brand new vehicle. At least I should have my issues sorted out and tyres replaced with Bridgestone tyres at no extra cost. There were few pre delivery issues like the interior was not cleaned, odometer reading at delivery stood at 64kms
