bought 2 brand new Samsung LED TV’s from Venus Electronics,1, West Powerhouse Road, Coimbatore – 641012 on December 14th. The TV’s delivered to me were demo TV’s which were freshly repacked by the dealer to make it look like it was brand new. I found this out when the licensed Samsung installer came to my place to mount the TVs. The inner protective packaging, and there were stains, scratches, and marks on back of the TV indicating that it was a used TV. Moreover, the parts required to mount the TV were missing further raising the suspicion that it was used. I went to the store immediately for an explanation of their decision to cheat me with old TVs, and to return the TV and get a refund or a brand new TV for which I originally paid the price for. The manager and area sales manager continued to confront me that they knew the TV was a demo unit that was used in their store for a few months, and they sent it to me because there wasn’t a brand new TV in stock. I was told that a refund would take 45 days and I was made to wait in the store for 3 hours while they continued to do nothing. I was promised that the situation would be resolved, and I made the statement that I’m not interested in paying anything more and that I need a new TV or just the refund which I think is very fair considering the situation. At the end of the day they delivered a different TV that was in new condition, and told me I could pay the difference if I thought it was necessary. I said I didn’t think it was necessary, as I didn’t get the product I wanted, was cheated with a used TV, and was refused a refund. So, I didn’t see the logic in how I would be responsible for their mistake of sending me used TV’s or for selling products that weren’t in stock. The phone calls from the manager continued in the meantime over a period of several weeks, threatening and abusing me and my family in foul language. I have been subject to extreme mental torture due to this repeated behavior, and find this conduct highly unethical and unreasonable. I’m afraid of the safety of my family due to these acts and threats of physical violence and ransacking my home. Coming from a family that has served and established its roots in Coimbatore for over 100 years, it hurts to be treated with such disrespect. All I wanted is to buy my parents a gift, and this is the situation that I have got myself into. I think it spoils the good reputation of Coimbatore, the city that I was born in and used to the honesty and good natured people. I kindly request you to ban and fine the dealership, and order the dealership to compensate me for the extreme mental abuse and torture for a period of over 15 days. My health and mindset hasn’t been normal since then as all I have to look forward to everyday is their phone call, net of lies, and verbal abuse.
