After investing days and weeks into deciding which car to buy for my dad, I finally zeroed in on this beautiful and elegant ‘Skoda Rapid Leisure (A)’ (Cappuccino-Beige). Absolutely loved this car and cherished dreaming to drive this car but for some reason SKODA India is hell-bent on wiping off my desire to own this Czech beauty. It was meant to be a gift to my dad since it is his last year in office before he hangs up his boots! Please note the tense I am using, it is in the past tense, for this gift is failing to materialize slowly but surely. I had booked this car in August, 2013 with the limited edition offer going on for Rapid Leisure, promising with extravagant features like leather seating, navigation assistance, alloy wheels among many other specifications. After giving an advance (down-payment) of Rs. 25,000 began the never-ending waiting period for the delivery! The local dealer at Sanpada, Navi Mumbai spoke so highly of Skoda Rapid and its prompt delivery before the advance payment was handed over to him. Well, I must say that he did a darn good job to convince me into buying this car, all the more, especially after liking it on first look and zeroing on, on this one! It has now been almost 13 weeks since the payment of one quarter of a lac and I have not had the slightest chance to sit inside my car! Every time upon being contacted, the dealer assures over the phone and in person that this car would be delivered to us in the next 3 weeks. This has happened not once, not twice but at least 7 times now since August, 2013. The reason he finds for his escape route is, “The car is out of stock from Aurangabad itself and I have been told they will ship the car in the next 2 weeks. So right now, I am helpless. But don’t worry, I am trying my level best to bring you the car”. This is the sole reason I am writing to you. Now please shed some light on this situation. Who is at fault here, the dealer, the manufacturing plant at Aurangabad, SKODA India or I? I have been made a fool out of successfully for the past 13 weeks and I have been stupid enough to yet wait for my dream car. Many people advised us against venturing into buying a SKODA make for the only reason looming over ever since its introduction in the Indian market, ‘pathetic customer service’. And how effortless it has been on your part to prove them right! I shout out to you one last time, as a customer, I don’t need to say “Please!” but I will. PLEASE, help me out and help me out in putting a smile on my Dad’s face. The latest I have been told by the dealer is that this car will be delivered in the first week of November, 2013. I have no idea whether to believe his claim or to drop the idea of buying this car. I obviously have my ‘Top 3 Cars’ list with me. SKODA RAPID has been lucky enough to top the list of my favorite cars, but I am afraid after first week of November, it might be driven out of the list and look elsewhere!
