I’ve purchased a Sigma Camera Lens from Snapdeal on 10th October 2013 that was to be dispatched latest by 15th October 2013. From 10th to 12th October the same product was available with different online sellers (viz. E-bay) at a low price. Among them I found the deal with Snapdeal more profitable and hence bought the product from them. Now, though the status of my product on their web portal reads as “Item has already been dispatched to our courier partner” and also that I learnt from my various conversations with their Customer Representatives that the order has already been procured and packed (Snapdeal Ticket # 3573039) and that the same would be dispatched on 17th October 2013, the same has not been dispatched as of yet. I fear that this is a deliberate attempt of Snapdeal to take the benefit of the increased price of the product even though I’ve made payment for the product exactly as they had quoted on their web portal. Incase they had any supply problem, had they informed me about the same within two days of processing my order, I’d have had the chance to buy from another seller. But they are still maintaining that they are to ship the product and that they had already procured it and yet not dispatching. In this case the cancellation of my order from their side will be a huge financial loss on my part and I’ll feel cheated.
Since the online shopping is completely based on trust, any breach of trust should not be acceptable. Moreover an unethical practice of one seller adversely affects the whole industry of online shopping as total transactions are made on the basis of trust and more often than not the buyers are more likely to be on the receiving side of the unethical practises. So it is important that exemplary penalties are imposed on defaulting sellers and in favor of the buyers. For the inconvieniences I’ve been meted out by Snapdeal for their unprofessional conduct since the last 3 days and for the emotional and mental loss of peace I am facing I’d like them to be penalised financially of Rs.5,00,000/- (Five Lacks) INR
