SnapDeal – product missing from the packet delivered

Recently, on Dec. 31, I placed an online order at Amazon.in for purchasing a memory card for my SLR camera for Rs. 2425. It arrived on 2nd of January and the delivery of the packet was taken from the courier (Fedex) by my mother, who was the only person at home, since it was a working day. In the evening, when I returned and opened the packet, I found that there was no product inside!!! Instead, it had three small pieces of cardboard and a torn piece from a Gujarati newspaper. I immediately called up Amazon’s helpline and apprised them of the situation. However, their initial reaction was that the delivery had been taken and that was it. When I pressed further, they asked me to send them photographs of the packet. I promptly sent them those. I came to know that the actual seller was Shyam Enterprises based in Ahmedabad and that he will refund my money. Thereafter, I received a call from Ajay Aggarwal, the owner of Shyam Enterprises, who asked me to send the pictures directly to him, which I did. The Shyam’s owner mentioned that they do not staple their packets. So, it is clear that the package I received was tampered. Further, I got 3 calls from Fedex Bangalore inquiring about details of the case. During all this time, Amazon kept assuring me that the seller would provide the refund. Now, yesterday, they have come back with their decision that since the delivery confirmation was signed at my end, they cannot help me. I tried to reason with them, but to no avail.

A full refund.
