Dear Sir,
I, Mr. Mohan Nair, having mobile No. +9322 818484 had purchased a Blackberry phone (CDMA) Model No.8330 CURVE (RSN/ESN No. 000000007615882352) from Reliance Communications Ltd., outlet at Mulund West, Mumbai, India vide their Inv. No.1107811126 dtd. For Rs.18,490/-. I have been a Reliance cellular customer for the last 9 years.
However, I have been facing the following problems on this handset since the time I had purchased the same.
That the handset is not getting charged as sometimes it get charged but sometimes not – when I had taken the set to the Mulund outlet they had told me to show it to their Blackberry service centre at Fort, Mumbai . On showing the same there in the first week of July they had told me that the charger is not working hence a new charger need to be purchased. Since it was not available in their outlet they have told me to purchase the same from outside. I had purchased a new charger and again the handset was giving similar problem as same as I had faced earlier. It clearly shows it’s the problem of the hand set which I had told the service centre and they had accepted as well. I had requested them to repair it or replace with a new set as the handset was purchased 6 month ago only and is very much under warranty. Surprisingly and to my shock the service centre have told me that the software is only under warranty and the hardware of this handset is not under warranty. This is something unheard in the product warranty practice ever in the world . As if a product has to work with a software then the warranty should be applicable to the whole product and not only to the software of the product and in this case without the software this product can’t be used it means there’s no logic to the warranty system informed by the service centre. In this regards, I seek justice from the authority to either repair my handset or replace at free of cost as per the actual warranty terms of the product as applicable in the country.
Further, the service centre technician have informed that this can’t be repaired but can be replaced with another new handset for which I have to pay Rs. 9,900.00. This is again forcing upon me to purchase a new handset so that their sales are increasex and either the manufacturing company (Research in Motion Ltd.,) or the service provider (Reliance) not bothered about providing me a solution.
Sir, I feel extremely disappointed and I strongly feel that I have been cheated with a substandard quality product that too for a whopping amount of Rs. 18,000/- as a consumer and by this my right have been hurt. Moreover, I was unable to use the handset since last many days which has caused tremendous mental agony and loss of contact with my job and business. I could’t think about this from a company like RIM and I seek justice immediately.
