In Month of Sep/Oct 2012,A ticket was booked online on Air India website for AI-20 from Delhi to Kolkata for two passengers for 29th Dec 2012 with web ref no AIBE5341725 and e-ticket no’s 0982104561896(Arun Datta)and 0982104561897(Himani Datta).How ever due to extreme medical emergency of my wife,I requested customer care on toll free number on 3rd Dec 2012 to cancel e-ticket no 0982104561897 with web reference no : AIBE5341725. The customer care representative also requested to mail the same request for cancellation to eCommerce@airindia.in for speedy refund,which i did at 1849 hrs on 03/12/12. On 05/12/12, at 1024 am I got mail from e-commerce dept stating that refund has been initiated and will be done soon. And to my surprise on same evening I got refund also, but it was for 2 tickets i.e. for my as well as my wife’s ticket,where as request on phone as well as mail was done only for my wife’s ticket as quoted above. I contacted Customer care and in return they told that yes mistake has been done but since refund has been credited to my credit card account so now they can not do any thing in this context.Also I filed feedback/complaint also on this on air India website wide reference number WB-DHQR121212031 on 12 dec 2012 but no reply received.
Since I had to perform the journey thus I had to buy fresh ticket costing Rs 8921/- against the cost of initial booked ticket which was of Rs 5484/-. Am a Govt employee and fares have been fixed for our sectors for e.g. Del-Kolkata sector has an upper cost of ticket as Rs 6250/- only. I suffered the loss of Rs 990/- for unwanted cancellation of my e-ticket number 0982104561896. and had to perforce buy costly ticket for Rs 8921/-. New e-ticket no on AI-20 on 29 Dec 2012 is 098-2105373994 on which, i physically travelled.
Relief Sought from Air India
I want that unwanted cancellation charges of Rs 990/- and the additional burden of the new ticket i.e. Rs 8921/- minus Rs 5424/- i.e.3497/- be paid back to me at the earliest. A total refund of Rs 4487/-(3497+990) be paid to me as the I suffered losses unnecessarily which I have paid in excess.
